Things to know about Ojibwe

Ojibwe (also called "Chippewa") is the language of the Ojibwe Native American peoples. Today, Ojibwe speakers are found in parts of Canada (mostly in southwestern Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and some areas of Saskatchewan) and in parts of the United States (mostly in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana).

Typing Ojibwe Characters

The Ojibwe content in this program is written in a variation of the Latin alphabet. Some dialects may include special characters with diacritic marks. If necessary, you can type these characters by typing the base character for the letter you want, then selecting the special character from the set of characters which appears.

See Typing Accents and Special Characters for details on typing methods.
