Things to know about Chechen

The Chechen language is a member of the Nakh branch of the Caucasian language family, and is spoken primarily in Chechnya. It is related to other languages in the Caucasus region, such as Ingush and Batsbi.

Using Chechen Lessons

Chechen can be written in a Cyrillic alphabet, similar but not identical to that of Russian. Chechen text is written from left to right, the same as English.

To type Chechen characters:

  1. Position your cursor somewhere where you can type, and verify that the virtual keyboard layout is set to Chechen.
  2. Locate the character you want on the virtual keyboard, then click on it or press the corresponding key on your physical keyboard. Capital letters are available by holding down the Shift key. See Typing special scripts for details.
